Republicans are trying to silence the Black voices of Tennessee's 7th Congressional District. They gerrymandered the district and carved up Nashville in an attempt to squash our voting power. I'll need all the help I can get to take down anti-choice, homophobic, racist Mark Green -- and that includes financial support. Here at #TeamOdessa, we're getting creative with the way that we build our support.
Art plays a critical role in the advancement of a revolution. Not only can it serve as a vehicle for catharsis and solidarity, but it can often be used as a call to action, inspiring its viewers to change the way they behave and see the world around them. We're trying to pull off something of a revolution ourselves, here in TN-07 -- a revolution against the ultra conservative and harmful ideology that has spawned the rise of fascism; a joyful revolution in which clean water, clean air, and clean food is not considered a luxury, and healthcare is a human right; a just revolution in which every constituent can afford life's basic needs.
If elected, I will have the great honor of becoming TN-07's first Black, openly gay Congresswoman. No one understands the importance of representation more than me. I knew it was critical that this project lift up Black, queer voices and center artists of color, which is why I'm thrilled to be participating in the work of Jonathan P. Higgins. I hope you'll consider joining this project and joining our joyful revolution in TN-07.
